The 2013 awards brought the Global Carrier Industry’s finest together in Amsterdam to celebrate innovation, vision and excellence.
Over the last nine years, the Global Carrier Awards have grown into the biggest and most prestigious event of the wholesale telecoms calendar. This year continued that trajectory with more than 300 attendees gathered in Amsterdam for the gala dinner and awards presentations.
We had over 130 nominations giving our judging panel a real challenge to find first the shortlist and finally the winners. They were aided this year by a new scoring system designed to ensure that shortlisting remained objective and transparent.
As well as the prestigious Best Global Wholesale Provider award won this year by Level 3 Communications we also presented two new awards; the first to Andrew Kwok of HGC for outstanding company leadership and the second to Alexandre Pébereau of Orange for overall contribution to the industry. As well as the normal range of awards for industry achievements, Telecoms Sans Frontieres presented awards to eight of its major supporters for corporate social responsibility.
This year's black-tie gala dinner had a distinct space theme, as guests were treated to a speech from the author, broadcaster, astronaut and physicist Professor Ulrich Walter. Walter is one of the few people to have experienced space travel and provided a highly visual and entertaining presentation that offered some thought-provoking ideas on the infinite possibilities of space.
We’d like to thank our highly respected judging panel for their painstaking efforts, our fabulous sponsors and everyone in the wholesale carrier industry for making the evening such fun. We wish you all continuing success in 2014.
