The C3PO research project, which stands for Colourless and Coolerless Components for Low Power Optical Networks, is seeking to address the issue of growing power consumption in optical networks. To achieve this goal, C3PO is producing a new generation of photonic components, which are designed to be colourless and coolerless, resulting in greater energy efficiency, whilst still enabling bandwidth growth at an affordable price.
